Live of the 13th Symphony, uncensored, recorded at the large hall of the Moscow conservatory on December 20, 1962 — Just two days after the World Première (December 18, 1962). The poem in the first movement ("Babi Yar") was banned after this second concert. The poet, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, had been compelled to make some modifications to it. Then Shostakovich, reluctantly, adapted the new, watered-down text, to the music. The new text was approved, but even that couldn't help. Public concerts of the 13th Symphony in Russia were few and far between, even with the modified poem.
