Postcards From Godley Moor, Summer 2020

Postcards from Godley Moor, Summer 2020 is a 6 track album, 35 minutes long, and the first in a series of 4 seasonal releases from Alula Down. The lo-fi tracks are a collage of local field recordings, traditional and new original songs, and semi-improvised instrumentals. The album was created during the Summer of 2020, and is being released as summer starts its transition into Autumn. This album will be followed by ‘Postcards’ for Autumn (in November 2020), Winter (in February 2021) and Spring (in May 2021). The album was released as digital download only accompanied by a strictly limited edition of 50 7”x5” art cards. The art cards were posted out with the first 50 download orders. The collection of 8 cards are a combination of original poetry, text and artwork and were printed on 100% recycled, uncoated 350gsm unbleached card. Now they are available as digital download pdfs with each download of the album. "The music we make has become place based, it happens here. Perhaps it could only happen here. It grows from connections, mistakes, intrusions, exploration. These are chance moments - the coincidence of a blackcap’s song amidst feedback sounds, a folk song as a helicopter passes, the rhythm of strings against a summer’s thunderstorm".
