Mr. Gottesmann was, for 28 years, a member of the staff of the Bay View College of Music in Michigan. What Bay View meant to Hugo, or what Hugo meant to Bay View, can never be put into words. To best express these feelings, a living memorial was initiated in the form of a phonograph record containing many of Bay View’s favorite pieces. These solos were selected from tapes, most of which were recorded by Hugo, himself, over a number of years and under differing acoustical conditions.
