The Scardanelli Cycle consists of:
The Seasons (Tracks 1-1, 1-3, 1-5, 1-7, 1-9, 1-10, 1-12, 2-2, 2-4, 2-5, 2-9, 2-10), three sets of four songs for a capella choir (1975/77/78)
Exercises For Scardanelli (Tracks 1-2, 1-6, 1-8, 1-11, 2-1, 2-3, 2-6, 2-8) for small orchestra (1975-1985) - comments, mirrors, responses, marginalia to The Seasons

The work is in 22 consecutive sections, with each section on 1 track. The booklet (p.3) numbers these continuous sections / tracks 1 to 22 and gives their durations, but does not say how they are split across the 2 CDs. This information is on the CDs themselves (at 6 o'clock), where CD-1 specifies that tracks 1-12 = sections 1-12, CD-2 that tracks 1-10 = sections 13-22 (see Images).

Booklet (ii + 56 pages + ii) includes Hölderlin poems with English and French translations, "listening guide" in German, English and French, and articles by Roman Brotbeck ("Komponierte Erkaltung", with English translation "Ivory Tower of Congealment") and Peter Szendy (untitled, in French only). ECM gratefully acknowledges the assistance of the Festival d'Automne à Paris and the London Sinfonietta in preparing the “Listening guide” to the Scardanelli-Zyklus. Louise Keller's 1843 pencil drawing of Hölderlin is reproduced on p.2. The translations are drawn from:
