Originally released by Norgran Records as "The Modern Jazz Sextet" (catalog number MGN 1076) in 1956. The recording was made on January 12th, 1956 at Fine Sound, New York City. The reissue recording is part of the series "Verve Master Edition", claiming "Meticulous restoration, high resolution, 96 KHz, 24-bit digital transfer, new liner notes, photographs, original cover art, and more".
