Madama Butterfly

This version is a 1968 repress on [l29583] label style that ran from 1968-76 and housed in a legacy [l89473] box with "LIVING STEREO" at top left. Box set comes with booklet. The 12" x 12" 36 page booklet has a matte paper cover with the interior printing of text and photos done in sepia tone color on a cream colored paper. It includes recording session photos by John Ross, and several sections that include "The Cast" (with pictures and short bio's), "The Failure And Success Of Butterfly" by George R. Marek, "The Recording" by Richard Mohr, "Story Of The Opera", and "Puccini Madama Butterfly, Libretto" that provides Italian - English dialogue translation by Peggie Cochrane. Noted on booklet title page: • "Opera in Three Acts" • 'Based on the story by John Luther Long and the drama by David Belasco" • "First performed at La Scala, Milan, February 17, 1904" The English libretto translation by Peggie Cochrane is noted as: "Copyright 1958 by G. Ricordi & Co. (London) (Ltd.)". The booklet is noted with: "© 1963, RCA Records, new York, N.Y.". The records are auto-coupled.
