This catalog number was one of Columbia's initial 101 releases, which debuted at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, June 16,1948. Per the Library of Congress, label trademark footnotes identify this release along with the label color as a repress of the original blue label LP. The original Masterworks labels were blue for 12" Lps and green for 10" Lps. The majority of the first 101 releases were 12" and blue labels were likely used up leaving a surplus of green labels. The change to green label color is indicative of repressing. Both rim text configurations were used prior to September 1948 with the two line rim text being the settled on rim text. The important company consideration was to footnote (♱) the pending registered trademark; (Lp). The top-loading, heavy paper sleeve's front color is blue. NONBREAKABLE on the front jacket and labels. Originally issued in 1947 as 6-10" 78rpm Masterworks album. [r10318268] This is a recording of that same 46th St Theater, New York musical, which opened January 10,1947.
