#4 Mozart

Lange erwartet: Erstes Mozart-Album mit Thomas Zehetmair Frisch und zeitgenössisch ist das Mozart-Klangbild, das Chefdirigent Thomas Zehetmair seit 2019 mit dem Stuttgarter Kammerorchester geprägt hat: historisch bergründet, doch auf modernem Instrumentarium gespielt. Nach vielen gefeierten Konzerten dieses Repertoires haben sie nun erstmals eine gemeinsame Mozart-Einspielung beim orchestereigenen Label SKO records vorgelegt. Zwei Repertoirelieblinge und zwei seltene Juwelen sind hier versammelt: Die „Prager“ Sinfonie Nr. 38, ein dramatisches Spätwerk mit an „Don Giovanni“ gemahnender Tiefe, steht der leichteren Sinfonie Nr. 23 gegenüber, die Mozart mit nur 17 Jahren komponierte. Zu den beiden menuettlosen Sinfonien tritt das Menuett C-Dur KV 409. Strahlende Mitte des Albums ist Mozarts Violinkonzert Nr. 3, in dem Zehetmair auch die Rolle des Solisten übernimmt. Long awaited: first Mozart album with Thomas Zehetmair The Mozart sound that Principal Conductor Thomas Zehetmair has been shaping with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra since 2019 is fresh and contemporary: historically grounded, yet played on modern instruments. After many acclaimed concerts of this repertoire, they have now released their first joint Mozart recording on the orchestra's own label SKO records. Two repertoire favourites and two rare gems are collected here: The ‘Prague’ Symphony No. 38, a dramatic late work with depth reminiscent of ‘Don Giovanni’, is juxtaposed with the lighter Symphony No. 23, which Mozart composed when he was only 17 years old. The two symphonies without menus are joined by the Minuet in C major K. 409, while Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3, in which Zehetmair also takes on the role of soloist, is the centrepiece of the album.
