Continuum Unbound

Kingsnake Grey (gw 011) Stereo field recording made at sundown on December 31, 2012 off the Kingsnake Trail in Congaree National Park (South Carolina) It is a version of Michael Pisaro's score_Grey (Grey Series No.4) (2012) Congaree Nomads (gw 012) There are 24 three-minute field recordings made in Congaree National Park (South Carolina) from December 30, 2012 to January 2, 2013. Greg Stuart's realization of Michael Pisaro's score_Congaree Nomads (2013-2014) using bowed marimba, vibraphone, glockenspiel and crotales. The score contains 24 harmonic aggregates and instructions for layering, repetition and octave disposition. The number of tracks increases gradually from 1 to 48 over the course of the piece. Anabasis (gw 013) This recording is a realization of the score anabasis (1) (2013-14) for five musicians by Michael Pisaro. The score calls for five materials (or roles) which describe kinds of sounds made by each performer: Sands, Winds, Tones, [Waves; omitted] and Interludes (who makes one sound for each material). The duration and the placement of the sounds are given, but most of the details of the actual sounds are determined by the performer. Each of the five roles has a main section where they are very present (but always with simultaneous and substantial contributions from the others). The interludes occur after the end of each main section. The final stage of the realization calls for assembly of the individual parts and "unbinding" - to find or make (at least) 72 perceptible sections according to a set of criteria.
