Die vorliegenden Analog-Aufnahmen wurden wegen ihrer besonderen künstlerischen und historischen Bedeutung für eine Veröffentlichung auf Compact Disc ausgewählt. Die Klangtreue, mit der die Compact Disc dem Original-Master entspricht, gibt den Aufnahmen eine Präsenz, die auf den früheren Analog-Schallplatten nicht erzielt werden konnte. Manche Beschränkungen der damaligen Band-Technik treten durch die Compact Disc ebenfalls deutlicher in Erscheinung. Diese Unzulänglichkeiten fallen jedoch wenig ins Gewicht gegenüber dem musikalischen Gewinn, denn der Gesamteindruck beim Anhören diese bedeutenden Aufnahmen ist viel lebendiger als zuvor. These analogue recordings have been selected for release on CD for their outstanding artistic and historical importance. The faithfulness to the original masters that CD brings presents the recordings with a vividness that could not be achieved on the analogue discs of the time. Some limitations in the tape technology of an earlier period will also be made apparent in the CD medium. These shortcomings are felt to be far less significant than the musical gains and we are confident that the listener's lasting impressions will be of great recordings experienced more vividly than before. Les enregistrements analogiques de ce Compact Disc one été choisis en raison de leur intérêt artistique et historique. La fidélité au support original qu'entraîne la technique du disque compact donne à ces enregistrements une vie et un relief qui n'ont jamais été obtenus avec les disques analogiques. De ce fait, les quelques faiblesses inséparables de la technique de l'époque qui apparaissent, mais dont l'importance est minime devant les gains musicaux, ne gêneront pas l'auditeur qui gardera l'impression d'une présence encore plus directe pour ces enregistrements historiques.
