Auto-coupled release ("drop-automatic"). Recorded October 24, 1945, in the Academy of Music, Philadelphia, Pa. The side and matrix information: Side 1 (XCO 35084): First movement (Allegro non troppo), part 1 Side 2 (XCO 35085): First movement, part 2 Side 3 (XCO 35086): Second movement (Andante espressivo) Side 4 (XCO 35087): Third movement (Allegro giocoso) The piece can be played either with string orchestra or solo strings. Solo strings are used on this recording, and they are played by violinists Alexander Hilsberg and Sol Ruden, violist Samuel Roens, cellist Samuel Mayes and bassist Anton Torelli - all Philadelphia Orchestra members at the time of the recording. Edna Phillips, of course, was also a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Issued in March, 1946, as Columbia Masterworks Set X-259 (records 71711-D and 71712-D), and in automatic sequence as Set MX-259 (records 71713-D and 71714-D). There does not appear to have been any subsequent release on LP.
